I have been a member of IA since surgery in 1990. Despite now being retired after 38 years in teaching 26 of them as a head teacher there always seems to be something happening to keep me active and busy. Wife of a retired policeman I hopefully have at 59 still much to achieve and look forward to in this next phase of my life and still many opportunities and challenges ahead I am sure. When I became an ostomate I joined IA because of my strong conviction for the vital importance and need for good support and a strong public voice for ostomates in times of need, a view that has not changed.
My interests are travel, history. cooking, the theatre, walking, the countryside, gardening, entertaining and supporting people.

I have been Secretary since 1996/97 and have had my Ileostomy since 1983. I am an Avionics engineer ( aircraft electrician) for BA and work shifts as well as my ia duties. Fortunately my boss is very charity friendly which is why I can be seen with the stand at most if not all of the local open days organised by the nurses and suppliers. I enjoy holidays in the sun around the world and visiting National Trust properties.

I am 65 years young and I have been an IA Member since my surgery in 1993 but I only became a Committee Member in 2009. I have lived in Hastings for 31 years and I have been married for nearly 46 years. I have a grown-up daughter and son and two lovely grandchildren.
I am a Chartered Surveyor by profession and worked equally in both the public and private sector. I retired in 2005 from an International Facilities Management Company where I was the Director responsible for Health Care, mainly PFI Hospitals.
My interest is DIY, gardening and watching sport as well spending as much time as possible with our grandchildren.
I joined the Sussex IA Committee because I enjoy committee work and I felt that the Eastern Area required more of a presence. I am fully committed to developing the Sussex Branch and IA in general.
